LOS ANGELES (Sept. 25) - Freshman outside hitter Lisa Rutledge's season-high 22 kills led No. 14 Arizona to a 15-10, 15-12, 3-15, 15-13 victory over 18th-ranked Southern California, giving head coach David Rubio his first career victory at USC.

The Cats improved to 9-3 with the win, 3-1 in Pac-10 play. USC fell to 6-3 and 1-1.

Rutledge's kill total was the most by a Wildcat since Keisha Johnson Demps recorded 25 at Oregon State on Nov. 16, 1997. Rubio had been 0-7 at Southern California, the only Pac-10 school he had not defeated on the road. The win was also the Cats' first road victory against a ranked team since topping No. 18 Washington on Oct. 31, 1997.

Rutledge, who also set season-best marks in hitting percentage (.465), digs (13) and blocks (3), was joined in double digits in kills by junior middle blockers Allison Napier (19) and Marisa DaLee (15) and sophomore outside hitter Jill Talbot (11). Sophomore setter Dana Burkholder posted a team season-high 66 assists and a career-best five blocks.

USC was led by Janae Henry's 18 kills and 10 digs.

The Cats return home to take on cross-state rival Arizona State at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, in the McKale Center.
