WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ?- Danielle Steinberg has been named to the Pac-10 All-Conference Second Team, the league office announced on Monday.

Steinberg, a 5-8 freshman, has posted a 14-6 record in singles play, with each of the six losses coming against ranked opponents. She currently boasts a No. 37 national ranking, the highest of her young career, and has earned an at-large bid as a singles competitor to compete in the 2006 NCAA Division I women’s tennis championships May 23-28.

Steinberg becomes the first Arizona women’s tennis player to be selected to the All-Pac-10 team since Maja Mlakar in 2002, who was also named to the second team.

Steinberg will lead the Wildcats into postseason play later this week as the team travels to Palo Alto, Calif., to compete at the 2006 NCAA Division I women’s tennis championships. No. 38 Arizona (12-11) will face No. 28 Brigham Young (20-7) in the first round on Friday, May 12.
