Three Women Golfers Named Pac-10 All-Academic

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ?- The Arizona Women’s Golfers Lani Elston, Whitney Welch and Miriam Kraschinski have been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team, which was recently announced by commissioner Tom Hansen. Elston was a first team election, which Welch and Kraschinski were named to the second team.


Elston, a native of Spokane, Wash., carries a grade point average of 3.92 in music. She was an important part of the Wildcats’ season, averaging a 75.25 stroke average. She competed in all 11 UA events and had one Top 10 finish and two Top 20 finishes. Elston carded a collegiate-career low tournament at the Wildcat Invitational, where she tied for third at 212 (-1).


Welch carries a 3.79 grade point average as a political science major. A native of Las Vegas, Nev., Welch contributed to Arizona’s successful spring season. At the Wildcat Invitational, she shot her career-low 54-hole score of 215 (+2).

            Kraschinski carries a 3.41 grade point average in regional development. This honor caps off a successful career at Arizona for the New Zealand native. In 30 rounds of golf this season, Kraschinski posted four rounds under-par. In addition, she tallied a 76.60 stroke average in 11 events.


To be eligible for selection to the Pac-10 All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
