TUCSON - University of Arizona Wildcat women's basketball will open the season Nov. 2 with an exhibition game against Grand Canyon. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at McKale Center.

In preparation for the start of the season, the squad will be broken down into a four-part preview by class. Third-year head coach Niya Butts returns a stellar junior class with a great combination of experience and skill. Arizona's five juniors are Shanita Arnold, Taylor Dalrymple, Tasha Dickey, Brooke Jackson and Reiko Thomas.

Arnold is a transfer from Arkansas, a graduate of Northside High School and a native of Fort Smith, Ark. She was forced to sit out last season because of NCAA transfer rules but will add an immediate impact to the lineup at point guard this season.

Dalrymple is a transfer from Gulf Coast Community College, graduated from Collins Hill High School and is a native of Atlanta, Ga. She was a key member of G.C.C.C. Commodores team that posted a 32-1 record and captured the 2010 NJCAA National Championship as well as the FCCAA/Region 8 and Panhandle Conference crowns.

Dickey is a graduate of Brighton High School and a native of Sandy, Utah. During the 2009-10 season, she appeared in 27 games on the campaign and tallied 218 total minutes of play. Dickey also recorded 50 points, 30 rebounds and 14 steals in a reserve role.

Jackson transferred to Arizona from Mesa Community College prior to the 2009-10 season. She is a native of Mesa, Ariz. and graduated from Mountain View High School. In her first season with the Wildcats, Jackson finished second on the team with 44 three-point field goals, connecting on 33 percent of her attempts. She made 20 starts for the Wildcats in 31 games, averaging 7.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 26.2 minutes per contest. She also dished out 49 assists and tallied 31 steals

Thomas is a native of Pasadena, Calif. and is a graduate of Narbonne High School. During the 2009-10 season for the Wildcats, she led the Pac-10 in free throw shooting with a .904 (75-of-83), connecting on 44-of-47 (.936) during conference play. Thomas also became Arizona's all-time leader in career free throw percentage with two-year mark of .854 (169-of-198).

The regular season will begin with a contest at Wichita State on Nov. 11. For tickets to the Arizona Wildcat women's basketball games, call 800-452-2287.
