TUCSON, Ariz. The Arizona football team completed a two-hour practice at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium on Tuesday evening in preparation for Saturday night’s home contest against South Carolina State. Below is a brief transcript of head coach Rich Rodriguez’s comments following practice.

On B.J. Denker:

“He has learned the system pretty quick. He wasn’t here in the spring so it has really just been August practices. He is another competitive guy and he has learned pretty well. He throws a nice ball, but he can really run. B.J. is pretty quick.”

On Austin Hill:

“Austin is one of the guys that has picked up the system really well. He knows all four receiver positions and he has played pretty well in practice, but in games he has been even better. I have been really pleased with the way he has played, the way he has caught the ball and how quickly he has picked up the system.”

On the receiving corps:

“It is a pretty solid group with some big, physical guys. They have caught the ball pretty in games and it has been a pretty good group to work with. Dan Buckner is another one that can play all the positions too so the more we can move guys around it gives us a little more flexibility.”

On the practice approach:

“We don’t practice differently and we treat every day the same. I want players to see that and our approach probably isn’t a whole lot different from other programs, but we expect our guys to focus on that day and put the work in. If the focus from the players isn’t there, we jump on them pretty quick, but they’ve responded to every challenge I’ve given them.”

The Wildcats will host South Carolina State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. inside Arizona Stadium. The contest will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
