LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Arizona's men's golf team combined to shoot 12-under-par on the final nine holes of the day and posted the best team round of the day Saturday to move into a tie for fourth place at the Toyota Men's Collegiate Golf Championship. The Wildcats shot 6-under 282 and stand at 573 (-3) with one round remaining.
Texas holds the lead at 11-under-par 565 after a second round of 284. Nevada-Las Vegas and Clemson are in second and third places, respectively. Jason Moon of North Carolina State is in first place individually at 8-under-par 136.
Junior Chris Nallen is tied for seventh place, individually, after he carded his second consecutive round of 2-under-par 70 Saturday. Nallen trails tournament leader Moon by four strokes with 18 holes remaining. Senior Ricky Barnes and freshman Blaine Peffley are tied for 31st place as each have two-day totals of 1-over-par 145. Peffley stood at 3-over par through 12 holes, but made birdies on four of the final six holes of the day to close with a 1-under 71.
Senior Reid Hatley is tied for 59th place as he shot a 3-under 69 Saturday. Hatley also closed Saturday's round on a tear, making birdies on four of the final five holes. Senior Andrew Medley is at even-par after 36 holes to position himself in tie for 50th place.
The tournament's final round is Sunday. Arizona seeks its third tournament win in as many tournaments in the spring season.
