Scattered six hits over seven innings while striking out just one, but walking none ...  Minnesota (Feb. 21-23): Tossed a solid six innings to pick up his second win of the season in Saturday’s game. Gave up five runs, four earned, on nine hits. Struck out four and walked none for the second straight start ... at UC Irvine (Feb. 14-16): Overcame a rough first two starts and tossed Arizona’s first 2-hitter in nearly 20 years in a complete game, 104-pitch shutout against the Anteaters. Struck out five and walked none en route to his first in 2003. Was rewarded with both Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week and Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honors ... Baylor (Feb. 7-9): Tossed three innings, giving up six runs (only three earned) on 10 hits. Did not earn a decision ... BYU (Jan. 30-Feb. 1): Worked four innings in his season debut. Gave up eight runs on nine hits in the Friday game that Arizona rallied to win 17-13. Did not earn a decision.

 

Summer 2002

Played for the Anchorage Bucs in the Alaska Baseball League ... Went 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA in five starts ... Struck out 18 and walked just two, one intentionally, in 27 innings pitched ... Combined with Nevada's Bryan Johnson for a shutout during in the season.

Gave up just one run on six hits while striking out eight and walking only one for his team-leading seventh win of the season ... at Cal (April 12-14): Won his team-leading sixth game of the season with seven strong innings, in which he gave up just two runs on five hits. Struck out three and walked none ... Stanford (April 5-7): Tossed eight innings of five-hit ball in a no-decision effort against ... at Oregon State (March 28-30): Helped snap UA’s six game road losing streak with seven innings of work ... UNC Wilmington (March 15-17): Did not earn a decision in UA’s 9-7 loss...  at Long Beach State (March 8-10): Suffered his second loss of the season with no run support in a 4-0 loss. Worked seven innings and allowed just four runs on 11 hits ... CSU Dominguez Hills (March 2-4): Scattered four hits over eight innings while striking out a career-high 10 hitters in fourth win of the season against ... UC Irvine (Feb. 22-24): Was hit on the right forearm during his start against the Anteaters, was removed for precautionary reasons, but did not miss any starts ... Strung together 17 scoreless innings pitched over three starts ... San Diego State (Feb. 7-9): Tossed Arizona’s first complete-game shutout in nearly four years in UA’s 1-0 win over the Aztecs ... Struck out a then-career-high nine hitters and walked none while allowing only five hits to win his third game of the season ... Utah (Feb. 1-3): Combined with two relievers in a 3-0 shutout of the Utes, tossing six innings with four K’s ... New Mexico (Jan. 25-27): Went eight innings in Arizona’s season opener, struck out four and walked none ... Saw his seven-game winning streak (four in 2001, three in 2002) come to an end at Texas A&M (2/15). Tossed seven innings with two K’s and no walks in Arizona’s 4-0 shutout loss.

Wildcats’ opening day starter... Had a team-high 3-to-1 strikeout- to-walk ratio ... Went 3-0 in his final three starts of the season, tallying nine strikeouts and a 1.98 ERA against Washington, at Stanford and Arizona State ... at Washington (May 18-20): Tossed eight innings in final start of the season against. Struck out five Huskies for his seventh win of the year ... Stanford (May 11-13): Followed an impressive showing in victory at Arizona State with seven-inning effort to earn a win over the seventh-ranked Cardina in Palo Alto, Calif. Scattered eight hits, allowed only two runs, struck out one and walked none for his sixth victory of the season ... at Arizona State (April 27-29): Was impressive over 7 2/3 innings in victory at ASU (7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) ... Southern Utah (May 16-18) Earned his second consecutive victory (third overall) with five innings of work against the Thunderbirds .. at UCLA (March 9-11): Won second game of the season with a seven-inning effort... Utah (Feb. 23-25): Struck out a career-high tying eight hitters in no decision appearance against the Utes ...
