??????????? ?On Friday, the Arizona womenˇ?s soccer team (1-1-0) will host Nevada (1-2-0) at 7 p.m.??On Sunday, the Wildcats will host the No. 4 Texas Longhorns (2-0-0) at 7 p.m.? Both games will be played at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium, located at the corner of Plumer Ave and 15th Street, adjacent to Drachman Track.

Last Week Recap

????????????Over the weekend the Wildcats went 1-1. On Friday, UA opened its 2007 campaign with a 2-1 home loss to Utah.??The Utes scored the first to two goals of the game, with goals coming at the 29:34 and 50:40 marks, but the Wildcats got back into the game with a goal by Karina Camacho at the 78 minute mark; her first collegiate goal.

????????????On Sunday Arizona traveled to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to play the Cal Poly Mustangs.??This time it was the Wildcats who scored the first two goals; Jasmine Namdar and Savanah Levake each put their first goals of the season past Mustang goalkeeper Alli Tramel.? After the Mustang made it 2-1, the Cats scored again.? This time it was freshman Jasmin Day who put her first collegiate goal in the net.? The Mustangs scored twice in the final five minutes to send the game to overtime.? Two minutes into OT Claire Bodiya ended the game with a goal off a corner kick; the first career goal for the senior co-captain.? UA goalkeeper Danielle Nicolai earned the victory in her first collegiate start.

Coach Dan Tobias

Arizona head coach Dan Tobias is in his fifth season at Arizona.? In 2003, Tobias took over a program that in its nine previous seasons had never had a winning record, and soon he had the Wildcats as contenders in both the Pac-10 and national championship picture.? Tobias carries a 41-36-7 overall record with the Wildcats.? He has earned Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors twice, in 2002, with Washington State and 2004, with Arizona, as well as National Coach of the Year in 2004 by Soccer America.? In 2004 Tobias also received West Region Coach of the Year by Soccer Buzz and NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year honors as well.? In 2004 Tobias led UA to its first Pac-10 title and followed that with a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2005.

About the Nevada Wolf Pack

Head coach Antoinette Marjanovic is in her fourth season with the Wolf Pack and first as the interim head coach.??She took over the Wolf Pack in August 2007.??Marjanovic was an assistant for the Wolf Pack when they won their first WAC Tournament Title and first NCAA appearance. The Wolf Pack are currently (1-2-0).? Over the weekend the Wolf Pack were defeated 1-0 by No. 19 Oregon and 2-1 by Portland State.

About the Texas Longhorns

Head coach Chris Petrucelli is in his eighth season with the Longhorns. Petrucelli has guided the Longhorns to six straight NCAA appearances with Sweet 16 appearances in 2004 and 2006.? He is a two-time coach of the year (2003 and 2004). Petrucelli has accumulated 105 victories in his tenure at UT.? The Longhorns are currently (2-0-0) by defeating TCU 3-0 on Friday and No. 2 UCLA 2-1.? On Friday September 7th the Longhorns travel to Tempe, Ariz. to play Arizona State before heading to Tucson to take on the Wildcats on Sunday.

Against Ranked Opponents

????????????Prior going winless against ranked opponents in 2006, the Wildcats earned a pair of victories with wins over No. 25 Utah and No. 21 Stanford.??In 2004 ?C the year the Wildcats won the their first Pac-10 Title.? That year, the Cats knocked off two top-five opponents with a 3-1 win over No. 4 Washington on Oct. 8 and a 1-0 victory against No. 5 UCLA on Oct. 31.

Scoring Leaders

????????????After assisting on UAˇ?s only goal on Friday, junior defender Savanah Levake and sophomore forward Jasmine Namdar both notched goals in Sundayˇ?s overtime victory at Cal Poly.

Senior Leadership

????????????Senior defender Claire Bodiya scored the game-winning goal Sunday at Cal Poly in overtime to give the Wildcats the 4-3 overtime win.??The goal was her first ever in 63 career appearances.

????????????Arizona ranks second in points with 12, goals with five, and goals per game with 2.50, in the Pac-10 Conference after one week of play.
