TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona’s No. 27-ranked women’s tennis team was selected in the NCAA Tournament’s field of 64 on Tuesday for the second-consecutive year after compiling a 15-8 regular season record and an undefeated mark at home.

The Wildcats were selected to play No. 34 Minnesota (16-8, 5-6) in the first round in the North Carolina regional. UNC and the University of Richmond were the other teams selected in the regional.

Minnesota most recently advanced to the second round of the Big 10 Tournament before falling to No. 20 Illinois, 4-0. The Gophers are led by sophomore Natallia Pintusava, who was named to the All-Big 10 first team for the second-straight year. She joins teammate Magdalena Wiecha for the nation’s No. 52-ranked doubles team.

Arizona was one of seven Pac-12 teams chosen, four of those teams earning top-10 seeds. UCLA earned the No. 1 overall seed, Stanford No. 4, USC No. 5 and California No. 9. Arizona State and Washington were also chosen.

UA will take on the Gophers on Friday, May 11, the match time still to be announced.

In 2011, No. 34 Arizona fell in the first round to No. 35 South Carolina in Gainesville, Fla.
