HOUSTON -

Arizona junior offensive tackle Eben Britton has been named to the 2008 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List - a hugely competitive group of 113 star players from around the nation.

The 39th annual Rotary Lombardi Award, presented by Wachovia, honoring the top lineman in the Football Bowl Subdivision and benefiting the American Cancer Society, will be presented in Houston on December 10 at the Hilton Americas Hotel.

Britton was among additions to the list, based on various pre-season honors and nominations. Earlier, he was named a candidate for the Outland Trophy, among other citations. Britton, who has played right tackle, has shifted to the left side this year. He earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors for his sophomore campaign and was a freshman All-America pick in 2006.

The award is for the nation's top lineman on either side of the ball, including tight ends and linebackers who line up within five yards of the ball. The Rotary Lombardi Selection Committee is comprised of more than 500 members, including all past winners and finalists, all Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

The Rotary Lombardi Watch List, intended as a reference tool for the Selection Committee, will be periodically updated and revised through the conclusion of the voting to determine the 12 Semifinalists for 2008. In a repeat of last year, this year's list has more defensive players than offensive players. There are 64 defensive players and 49 offensive players.

Britton is among 17 Pacific-10 Conference players on the watch list including OL Kenny Alfred, WSU; LB Reggie Carter, UCLA; LB Brian Cushing, USC; DE Dexter Davis, ASU; OL Alex Fletcher, Stanford; LB Zack Follett, Cal; DT Brigham Harwell, UCLA; OL Andy Levitre, Oregon State; OL Alex Mack, Cal; LB Ray Maualuga, USC; DT Fili Moala, USC; OG Jeremy Perry, OSU; DT Brian Price, UCLA; DE Nick Reed, Oregon; LB Clinton Snyder, Stanford; and OT Max Unger, Oregon.

Arizona also will face another player on the list in 2008, Erik Cook, an offensive lineman from New Mexico.
