UH opened with a 4-0, and continued to lead for the first half of the game. But after the Rainbow Wahine's advantage got to 15-9, Arizona made their comeback. The Wildcats used a 6-1 run to take their first lead of the game at 16-15. Hawai`i got the lead back and was up 24-20 before another UA run, this time of 9-2, gave the Wildcats game point at 29-26.

But the Rainbow Wahine wouldn't go away, scoring the next three pints to tie it up at 29. In all, UH fought off seven game points before a kill by Jamie Houston put the Rainbow Wahine at game point at 35-34. Arizona then scored on a kill by Goodenough to tie it, then getting their eighth game point on a service ace that trickled off the net. Hawai`i scored the next two to take another game point at 37-36. But UA would scored the next three points, including another ace on a let serve, taking the exciting game 39-37.
In game three, Arizona used a big 11-4 run early to take a 14-8 edge. Hawai’I got within a point at 15-14, but the Wildcats proved to have too much, and cruised to the 30-24 game three victory.
