Seniors Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles), Marketa Hanzlova (Liberec, Czech Republic) and Courtney Karst (Centennial, Colo.) led the Arizona volleyball team (6-1, 0-0) to a 3-0 rout of Illinois-Chicago Friday at the Evansville Dunn Hospitality Invitational in Evansville, Ind.
Jackson recorded nine kills, three blocks and two aces, Hanzlova had nine kills, four aces and 12 digs and Karst added eight kills and three blocks for the Wildcats.
Arizona took the first set 25-16, the second 25-22 and finished the third set off, 25-20.
“I thought we played well tonight,” Arizona head coach David Rubio said. “We were efficient and our serving was good.”
“Chloe played well and our whole team played well overall,” Rubio said. “UIC is a good team, our score was not indicative of how good they are.”
Kelsey Safranek led the Flames with six kills and nine digs and Justine Garcia added 15 digs.
The Wildcats are back in action for a double-header on Saturday when they take on Southeast Missouri State at 9 a.m. PT and Evansville at 2:30 p.m. Evansville defeated SeMO on Friday in a 3-2 decision.
