UA Men?s Tennis Starts Strong at ITA All-American

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ?- The Arizona men’s tennis team completed action at the Icy Hot/ITA All American, Friday, Oct. 1. Three of the Wildcats earned byes in the first rounds of play, and Arizona’s competitor won his match today to advance to the third round of pre-qualifying on Saturday Oct. 2.

 

Competing for Arizona, in his first match of the year, was senior Paul Warkentin. Warkentin earned a bye in the round of 256, but in the round of 128 defeated RJ Murray of Alabama, 6-2, 6-3.

 

Warkentin is scheduled to compete at 9 a.m. tomorrow in the round of 64, against Jan Macek of Santa Clara. The remaining three Wildcats will begin play later this week as the main draw is set to begin on Monday, Oct. 4.
