TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona football team opened its second two-a-day of fall camp with a 90-minute practice in helmets and shorts on Tuesday morning at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium. The team will work out in full pads during Tuesday’s second session.
The team opened practice by splitting up the offense and defense with drill work. The squad then shifted to special teams work with a significant amount of time spent dedicated to field goals and kickoffs.
“The hard part about special teams is that it’s so hard to go live in camp particularly with kickoffs and kickoff returns,” head coach Rich Rodriguez said. “We have been getting a lot of reps in and we’ll maybe go live with our scrimmage on Saturday and see where we are at.”
The practice ended with several sessions in the two minute drill, which was similar to yesterday’s workout. After spending the late afternoon in meetings, the Wildcats will return to the practice field with its second practice of the day beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The Wildcats will take to Arizona Stadium on Sat., Sept. 1 to host Toledo. The 7:30 p.m. contest will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU. Football tickets are available at the McKale Center Ticket office, by visiting ArizonaWildcats.com or by calling 520-621-2287 or 1-800-452-CATS.
