The 2011 Hukilau Invitational, hosted by Division II institution BYU-Hawai'i, features three undefeated BCS-campus teams and the hosting BYUH Seasiders. The BYU Cougars are 5-2 on the season, including Tuesday's win over BYU-Hawai'i, 88-27. The Syracuse Orange are 6-0, including a road win at Boise State, 70-47, on Tuesday. BYU-Hawai'i is 0-3 and looking for its first victory of the season.
Arizona is paced by sophomore guard Davellyn Whyte and her 22.0 points per game, including 50 percent (16-32) from three-point range. Sophomore forward Erica Barnes leads the Wildcats at the glass with 9.4 rebounds per game as senior guard Shanita Arnold hands out 4.8 assists per game. Arizona's starting line-up includes a senior, a junior, two sophomores and a freshman.
Last time out, Arizona won its fifth-straight game on Monday with a 69-62 victory over North Texas at McKale Center. Whyte led the Arizona scorers with 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field. She also had five rebounds, four assists and three steals in 31 minutes of play. Arizona also got double-digit scoring efforts from Arnold with 13 and Barnes with 12. Barnes also had eight rebounds while Arnold handed out five assists.
Arizona women's basketball games can be heard live on KTUC AM 1400 in Tucson. All broadcasts will start 15 minutes prior to tip-off for the pregame show.
