TUCSONˇ?Arizona run-ruled New Mexico State 9-1 Sunday afternoon to go 5-0 in its own Hillenbrand Invitational softball tournament.

?

Freshman pitcher Lindsey Sisk threw four perfect innings and improved to 6-1 on the year.

?

The Wildcats (11-4), ranked No. 8 entering the week, split with the Canadian National Team on Wednesday and then beat all comers Friday through Sunday in the round-robin action

?

Arizona took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning on four hits with an RBI double from Jenae Leles and run-scoring singles by Stacie Chambers and Victoria Kemp.

?

NMSU pitcher Vanessa Fitzgerald (0-3) walked the bases loaded to open the bottom of the second, but the Aggies turned a 5-2-3 double play off Sam Banisterˇ?s grounder and Fitzgerald and got Leles to fly to center.

?

Arizona scored an unearned run in the third when centerfielder Rishelle Gastelum caused rightfielder to lose a bead on a fly ball, letting batter Kemp reach third. Laine Roth drove her in with a single to left.

Callista Balko had a pinch-hit two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-0. It was Arizonaˇ?s 10th home run in the firve-game weekend.

The Aggies got their first base runner, hit and only run in the top of the fifth. Hoku Nohara drew a walk to lead off, and an out later pinch-hitter Angie Ortega moved her up with a single to left. With two outs, Kristi Hanan singled up the middle to drive in pinch-runner Kandis Jones.

Pinch-hitter Sarah Akamine doubled in a run in the UA sixth to make it 7-1. UA ended the game in with two outs in the bottom of the sixth with a run-scoring double by Sara Akamine, and a two-run double by Roth.

The Cats play host to the Wildcat Invitational tournament next week at Hillenbrand Stadium, which drew another nice crowd of 1,223 for Sundayˇ?s game.

TUCSONˇ?Iowa State beat Illinois-Chicago, 3-2, Sunday morning to close its Hillenbrand Invitational appearance with the same 3-2 mark, leaving town with the best overall record (13-3) among the teams in the field.

The Flames, 3-11 overall, were 1-4 during the weekend with a victory over New Mexico State on Friday.

Alex Johnson hit a two-run double after hits by Carleigh Berry and Courtney Wray to give the Cyclones a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Sydni Jones hit a solo home run to left in the fourth to make it 3-1.

The Flames got a run in the top of the fifth on a sac fly by pinch-hitter Claire Donyanavard after a double by Brittany Dixon and an infield grounder.

Game 13:?South Florida 6, Virginia Tech 1 (Box Score)?

USF put up four runs in the bottom of the first and it was more than enough behind Courtney Mosch's two-hitter?to lift the Bulls past No. 24 Virgina Tech Sunday morning in Arizona's Hillenbrand Invitational tournament.

Britta Giddens led off with a single and with one out, Kit dunbar singled to move her to third.?Mosch (7-3)?doubled to drive in Giddens, and?Cat Olnick blasted a three-run home run.

The Hokies got their run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly by Kelsey Hoffman. Starter Heather Lowry?took the loss, her first of the year against five victories.
