TUCSON -- After a tumultuous start, the Arizona Wildcats rebounded to display their offensive prowess in defeating Arizona Western College, 16-2 in five innings, in the second game of the Arizona Fall Classic on Friday evening.
Lindsey Sisk had retired the first two Western batters when two errors, a wild pitch, a walk and a base hit put two Western runs on the board before Arizona saw its first at-bats.
In the bottom half, though, the first seven Wildcat batters tallied a hit and UA batted around twice to open up a 12-2 lead. Jenae Leles knocked in top two hitters Lauren Schutzler and Brittany Lastrapes with a single, followed by RBI singles from Sam Banister, Laine Roth, and K'Lee Arredondo. Karissa Buchanan rounded out the order with an RBI single of her own as the hits kept coming.
Four runs were scored the second time around the order, with Leles, Banister, Roth and Arredondo tallying another RBI each.
Corinna Gonzalez added the final Arizona run on an RBI triple in the fourth.
Banister and Roth each nabbed three RBI in the contest. Sisk was relieved by Sarah Akamine in the fourth inning.
Up Next: Arizona will host New Mexico and Central Arizona in back-to-back games on Saturday evening. First pitch against the Lobos is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Hillenbrand Stadium.
