Daniels, a senior from Bonita, Calif., has been the nation's top-ranked golfer for the majority of the season, while leading the Wildcats to a No. 1 ranking and seven consecutive tournament wins. She was named the 2000 Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Year and was a first team All-Pac-10 selection for the third year in a row. She leads the team in stroke average (71.70) and has finished among the top-10 in nine of the UA's 10 tournaments. She has won two tournaments this year and never finished lower than 15th.
Daniels becomes just the second Arizona woman golfer to win the Honda Award, joining Marisa Baena, who received it for 1995-96.
The Arizona women's golf team begins play in the NCAA Championships today at Sunriver, Ore. The final round is set for Saturday.
