TUCSON, Ariz. -
Head coach Vicky Maes and the Arizona women’s tennis team travel to Memphis, Tenn. for the Memphis Invitational beginning Friday, Nov. 4 and continuing through Sunday, Nov. 6.
Seniors Debora Castany (Barcelona, Spain) and Natasha Marks (Nottingham, England), sophomores Susan McRann (Dublin, Ireland), Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) and Kim Stubbe (Mol, Belgium) and freshman Hailey Johnson (San Diego,Calif.) will participate for the Wildcats. Marks and Stubbe will pair up for doubles play, as will Johnson and McRann.
“We’re excited to play in Memphis this week,” Maes said. “We had a great showing in our last event and we hope to play well here too. This tournament gives us an opportunity to see competition we don’t see in our region. We rarely head east of Texas but we will face some of these teams in the spring and it will be good experience no matter what.”
Competition will begin with doubles play at The Racquet Club in Memphis on Friday morning.
Arizona is coming off an impressive showing at the ITA Regionals, where every player recorded wins in singles and doubles in the tournament.
