Two University of Arizona women's soccer players have earned All-Pac-10 honors for the 2002 season, announced the league office on Wednesday. Redshirt freshman forward Kelly Nelson (Lakewood, Calif./Mayfair HS) has been named second team All-Pac-10, and sophomore midfielder Candice Wilks (Altadena, Calif./LaSalle HS) has earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 laurels. The All-Pac-10 selections are made by a vote of the league's coaches.

Kelly Nelson was named to the All-Pac-10 second team after finishing regular season play as the conference leader in goals scored, with 13. She set a new UA school record this year for goals scored in a single season and tied the school records for most points in a season (27), most game-winning goals in a season (3), most total points in a game (10) and most goals in a game (5). Nelson is the first Wildcat since 1997 to be named to an All-Pac-10 team.

Candice Wilks is an honorable mention All-Pac-10 choice for the second year in a row. She played in all 19 matches this season, racking up 20 shots, with 10 on-goal, and collecting a pair of assists. Wilks, who was the team's leading scorer in 2001, is tied for fifth on the UA career list in game-winning goals (2), tied for sixth in career assists (5), tied for seventh in goals scored (8), is eighth in total points (21) and shots (67).

The Wildcats finished the season with a 6-12-1 record overall and were 1-8-0 in Pac-10 play. With a roster that featured 18 freshmen and sophomores, Arizona's six wins surpassed the 2001 total of five and was the most wins for a squad since 1999. The Cats set or tied 17 school records, including most goals in a season (37), most assists (32) and most total points (106).
