TUCSON, Ariz. - Sophomore Ashley Malaska shot a 36-hole total of 146 to win the 2009 Tucson City Women's Amateur, last week at the Silverbell and Dell Urich golf courses.

Malaska, who is a native of Mesa, Arizona, recorded the low round of the tournament on day one at the Silverbell Golf Course with her even-par 72. She followed that up by shooting 2-over par 74 at Dell Urich Golf Course to finish in the top spot of the Championship Flight.

Her two-over total earned her a two-shot win over Judy Miller. Former Wildcat Brooke Schneider captured 4th place in the Championship Flight after shooting 157 for the 36-hole event.

Malaska and the Wildcats, ranked #18 in the latest NGCA Coaches Poll, return to tournament play February 22-23, 2010 as hosts of the Wildcat Invitational at Arizona National Golf Club.
