BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--Arizona senior cornerback Antoine Cason and senior linebacker Spencer Larsen were named to Rivals.com All-America teams today.
Cason, a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back, earned first-team honors. Larsen, the Pac-10's leading tackler and a finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, earned second-team citation.
Both are team captains and will conclude the regular season Saturday in Tempe, as UA faces No. 13 Arizona State in the battle for the Territorial Cup. The game kicks off at 6 p.m. and will be seen nationally on ESPN2.
Larsen has 116 tackles, two sacks, three fumble recoveries, three fumbles caused and has broken up five passes. Cason has five interceptions -- two?returned for scores -- has broken up 11 passes and forced two fumbles. He has 15 career picks, No. 4 on UA's all-time list.
Also this week, Rivals announced its All-Pac-10 teams, and both Cason and Larsen were first-team picks along with junior receiver Mike Thomas and redshirt freshman punter Keenyn Crier. Cason also earned double citation as he was chosen first-team for his punt returning. Sophomore offensive tackle Eben Britton and junior place kicker Jason Bondzio earned second-team All-Pac-10 nods from the organization. The Pac-10 will announce its all-league teams as selected by the coaches next week.
Crier leads the Pac-10 in punting and has helped Arizona post the league's best net punting figure, while Bondzio has 20 field goals in 24 attempts, withint three of the school record. Britton has 23 consecutiv starts for UA after assuming an offensive line leadership role is his first year in 2006.
Earlier this week Crier earned second-team Freshman All-America honors from Rivals, while freshman tight end Rob gronkowski was a first-team all-frosh pick.
The Sporting News earlier named Gronkowski, Crier,?receiver Delashaun Dean, guard Colin Baxter and running back Nic Grigsby to Pac-10 All-Freshman honors.
