EUGENE, Ore. - Six Oregon players scored in double figures to pave the way for a 92-74 win over visiting Arizona, Thursday evening at McArthur Court.
Arizona shot just 28-of-75 (.373) from the field and was 4-of-21 from three-point range while Oregon connected on 35-of-76 (.461) and made 7-of-19 (.368) from beyond the arc.
A back-and-forth first half swung toward the Ducks' favor with a late run that helped the home side claim a 44-38 halftime advantage. Consecutive three-pointers by Victoria Kenyon and Taylor Lilley broke a 36-36 tie to spark a 8-0 run.
Both teams were saddled with foul trouble to their star players. Junior forward Ify Ibekwe picked up two fouls inside the first 10 minutes while Lilley was whistled for three early infractions, but still managed to log 16 minutes.
The Ducks pulled away with another 8-0 run early in the second half. This time, Nicole Canepa tallied three of the four buckets while Jasmin Holliday added a basket in transition to stretch the lead to 62-47 with 12:56 remaining. The Wildcats would get no closer than 13 points and trailed by as much as 23 points.
Soana Lucet led Arizona with 23 points while Davellyn Whyte added 12 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Ibekwe added 9 points and 12 rebounds, but logged just 21 minutes after picking up two more fouls early in the second half.
Nia Jackson had 18 points to lead Oregon (15-8, 6-5) while Canepa and Lilley each had 15 points. Amanda Johnson and Victoria Kenyon tallied 13 points apiece while Holliday chipped in with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Arizona (11-11, 5-7) makes the short trip to Corvallis on Saturday, February 13 to take on Oregon State at Gill Coliseum with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Beavers (9-13, 1-10) dropped a 62-49 decision to Arizona State on Thursday.
