Nine of 14 teams ranked in current GCAA/Bridgestone Top 25 Coaches Poll


TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men’s golf team returns home to host the 2006 National Invitational Tournament, March 26-28, at Omni Tucson National Golf Club.  Nine of the 14 teams in the field are nationally ranked.


One of the finest college golf events in the nation, the 2006 National Invitational Tournament is a 54-hole event, which will be contested at Omni Tucson National, a par 72, 7,094-yard layout.  Eighteen holes will be played each day beginning Sunday, March 26.  Action is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. MST on Sunday and Monday.  Tuesday’s final round will start at 7 a.m.


Nine teams in the field are currently ranked in the March 16 GCAA/Bridgestone Top 25 Coaches Poll.  The following teams are scheduled to compete (ranking): Arizona State (8), Arkansas, Fresno State, Kent State, Minnesota (T25), New Mexico (T25), Pepperdine (20), Texas Christian, Tulsa (15), UCLA (5), UNLV (7), USC (22), Washington (24) and host Arizona.

In its last outing, Arizona finished in a tie for sixth place at the Hall of Fame Invitational in Humble, Texas
