WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona senior Roger Matalonga has been named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 20 - 26.

Matalonga, from Terrassa, Spain, helped the Wildcats defeat in-state rival, Arizona State, 6-1 last week. The senior won his doubles match at the No. 2 position with teammate Francois VanderMerwe, defeating Nick Hegarty and Ryan McBride, 8-4. He then dropped his first set to Jonathan Kinsella in the No. 1 singles match, but was able to come back and take a close second set, 7-5, to the 85th-ranked singles player. Matalonga finished the match strongly, winning the third set 6-1 to improve his singles record to 8-5.

This is Matalonga's second Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and third weekly honor all-time for Arizona.

The Wildcats will begin Pac-10 play at home this weekend. Arizona will host USC on Friday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m., and will then take on defending national champion UCLA on Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m.
