Arizona Swimming posted its third-consecutive victory of the season with its win over Wisconsin on Friday at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The Wildcats defeated the Badgers, 166-93 in men’s competition and 151.5-92.5 in women’s.

Arizona continued its streak in relay competition as it went undefeated once again. Sophomores Sarah Denninghoff (Tucson, Ariz.), Aubrey Peacock (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Margo Geer (Milford Center, Ohio) and junior Ellyn Baumgardner (Fairfax, Va.) earned a first-place finish in the women’s 200 medley relay and sophomores Mitchell Friedemann (Allenton, Wis.), Kevin Cordes (Naperville, Ill.), Giles Smith (Baltimore, Md.) and Tommy Gutman (Jacksonville, Fla.) dominated the men’s race.

In the 200 free relay, Geer, Denninghoff and Peacock teamed up with senior Alyssa Anderson (Granite City, Calif.) for the win, while Friedemann, Gutman and Smith swam with senior Kelley Wyman (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) for a victory on the men’s side.

Several Wildcats also achieved first-place finishes in individual events.

Anderson won three individual events, including the 200 free, the 500 free and the 200 fly, Denninghoff won the 100 back and the 200 back, Geer won the 50 free and the 100 free and Peacock won the 100 fly.

In men’s competition, Wyman won the 50 free and the 100 free, Cordes won the 100 breast and 200 breast, Friedemann won the 100 back and Smith won the 100 fly. In addition, senior Cory Chitwood (Union, Ky.) finished in first in the 200 back, junior Sam Rowan (Eugene, Ore.) won the 400 I.M. and sophomore Matt Barber (Kingwood, Texas) won the 1000 free.

“I thought overall we did a good job today, but we had a few things that caught up to us,” Arizona head coach Eric Hansen said. “Consistency was rewarded and a lack of consistency will catch up to you. I saw a lot of consistency pay off, but I saw some things that caught up to us too.”

The Wildcats will return to the pool for two home meets next weekend, taking on USC on Friday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. and UCLA (women only) at Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.
