Throughout the Arizona Wildcat women's golf season, senior Alejandra Llaneza will keep a weekly blog about life and golf in the Pac-10. Check back for more updates from Ale!

Hello Wildcat Fans!

This week we played at the BRUIN/WAVE Invitational at Robinson Ranch Golf Club. UCLA had a big lead after the first round and we were in second place. Pepperdine posted a good score the second round and we fell to third place going into the last round. We knew that with a good score from all five of us there was no reason why we could not recover from the previous two rounds. Unfortunately, UCLA stayed consistent and posted a great score the last day. However it came down to the last few holes to determine who would finish second, Pepperdine or us. It even came down to the last hole but we were able to finish one shot ahead of them and take second.

It was fun to come down the stretch knowing that we were so close because these are all learning experiences to prepare us for pressure situations in the future and each one of us was able to get something positive out of our rounds. We know that we need to keep preparing well in order to be in the same position but next time to fight for first place. The big margin by which UCLA beat us is only an indicator of what we need to work on for the next event. It is a motivation to get a head start since day one to put ourselves in good position to win.

It was also good to see that this week represented a team effort, given that all of us posted some good scores for the team and we were able to support each other when a team member was struggling on the course We had an individual T4 for Isabelle Boineau, T10 for myself, T14 for Margarita Ramos, T18 for Haley Andreas (a great finish for her first varsity event) and a T33 for Nikki Koller.

Next week we are going to Hawaii! It will be an exciting experience and another good test for our games. We will be preparing by working on shots that we will need under windy conditions.

Follow us next week at golfstatresults.com :) Until next time!
