Day 3 Meet Results?

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The University of Arizona built onits lead Saturday night at the Pac-10 Women's Swimming Championships here and heads into the final day with a lead of?1027 points, while second place Stanford has 964 points. Cal still resides in third place with 830 points.

Helping Arizona build the lead was the 400 medley relay team. Arizona finished in first place when they swam a time of 3:33.76. The swimmers on the relay team were: Hailey DeGolia, Annie Chandler, Ana Agy and Lacey Nymeyer. USC finished in second place with a time of 3:35.76.

In the 400 yard IM championship final, UAˇ?s swimmers Jenny Forster (4:17.03) and Kathryn Thompson (4:17.95) finished in sixth and seventh place respectively. Finishing in first place was Washingtonˇ?s Ari Kukors with a time of 4:05.29.

Agy, Arizonaˇ?s lone swimmer in the 100 yard fly championship final, finished in sixth place with a time of 53.11. Finishing in first place with a time of 51.25 was Calˇ?s Dana Vollmer.

In the 200 yard free, Nymeyer finished in second place with a time of 1:45.52. Arizonaˇ?s Anna Turner finished in fourth place (1:47.15) and Taylor Baughman finished in fifth place (1:47.51).

Also finishing in second place for the Wildcats was Chandler in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.46. Junior, Jessica Embickˇ?s time of 1:01.32 was good for a fifth place finish while Jacquelyn Craftˇ?s time of 1:01.83 put her in sixth place.

DeGolia (52.72), Justine Schluntz (52.82) and Agy (54.14) finished second through fourth, respectively in the 100 back. Andrea Boritzke finished in sixth place with a time of 54.26.

Tomorrow, Arizona will try and hold off the Cardinal when they go for a shot at its third consecutive Pac-10 title. The preliminaries will begin at Noon. The finals will start at 7 p.m. Tomorrows events include: the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and the 400 free relay.
