No. 32 Women's Tennis Set to Play Rebels and Waves

TUCSON - The No. 32 Arizona Wildcat women's tennis team is back on the road this weekend as they travel to Las Vegas, Nev., and Malibu, Calif.

The Wildcats (13-2, 2-0 Pac-10) are set to play Ole Miss in Las Vegas on March 17 and Pepperdine in Malibu on March 19. The Wildcats are coming off a 6-1 win over No. 29 Sacramento State to continue a seven-match winning streak. Arizona clinched the doubles point and went on to win five of six singles matches to secure the win. Despite the victory, the Cats fell four spots in the ITA Rankings from No. 28 to No. 32. Also falling out of the rankings is the junior duo of Natasha Marks and Sarah Landsman. The pair was previously ranked No. 67 and picked up a win over Sacramento State. Marks did not compete in singles play and lost her No. 99 ranking. The Nottingham, England native is not currently ranked.

Last weekend, Ole Miss (6-5) fell to No. 14 Arkansas, 6-1. The Rebels dropped the doubles point and went on to win only one singles match. Ole Miss is coming off of a three-match losing streak as they travel to Las Vegas, Nev.

On Saturday, the Cats will take on No. 37 Pepperdine. The Waves (6-4) fell to No. 16 USC last weekend. The Trojans captured the doubles point and went on to win four of six singles matches to defeat the Waves, 5-2. The Waves also fell to San Diego State in San Diego, Calif. Pepperdine lost all three doubles matches but came back to win three singles matches. The wins were not quite enough and the Waves fell 4-3.

The Wildcat women's tennis team will take on Ole Miss on Thurs., March 17 at 12 p.m. MST in Las Vegas, Nev. On Sat., March 19, the Cats will take on Pepperdine at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. PT.
