Hello GymCat Fans!!!

Welcome back to a fresh season of Arizona Gymnastics. We are all ramping up for a great season starting in January. We have five new freshman on the team: Becca, Deanna, Jillian, Talyn, and Katie who are great assets to the team and have been working extremely hard during pre-season. It’s so fun to have so many new faces on the team and so much talent.

We just recently had our team Halloween party where everyone dressed up in amazing costumes. Bree, Beamer, Lex, and Erica were the Golden Girls. Miranda, Kristen, Colleen, and I were part of Richard Simmons workout crew. And Becca, Deanna, Jillian, Talyn, and Katie were nerds. Everyone put a lot of effort into their costumes and they were all really funny. We also carved pumpkins, a tradition that we have every year. Some creative ideas were the hamburger pumpkin, the Buddha pumpkin, and a pumpkin having a baby pumpkin. Every year we draw partners and together we have to come up with a creative way to decorate and carve our pumpkin. We had a new tradition at our Halloween party this year where we split into teams and played Guitar Hero with a band. This was a blast as different people played the drums, guitar, and sang.

We are more than half way through the semester and classes are in high gear with a lot of tests and projects due. Practices have been headed in the same direction. We are now doing full routines on every event and are starting to put dismounts and landings on harder surfaces. Our team is putting together very strong routines and I am confident that we will start the season off with a bang. It’s been really nice to be able to work out in our new facility all summer and this semester. We absolutely love the new addition. And it’s great to be on campus during pre-season, it allows us to train more efficiently than last year when our facility was being renovated and we had to train off campus.
Thanks for your support GymCat Fans! We will keep you updated as season gets closer.

With Love,
Sarah Tomczyk (Specht)
