TUCSON - The Arizona men's tennis team improved its home record 7-0 and ran its match winning streak to six matches when they defeated San Diego 5-2, at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.


The Wildcats (8-1) followed up its upset of No. 26 Texas Tech on Friday by winning the doubles point in position #3 when Jay Goldman and Ravid Hazi fought back from being down 7-4 to win 8-8 (7-3).


The duo of Andres Arango and Andres Carrasco defeated the doubles team of Nicola Bubnic and Nils Schive 8-4 in position #2. On the season Arango and Carrasco are 3-0 in doubles when they are paired together.


Carrasco continued his solid play by defeating San Diego's Chris Coetzee 6-3, 6-3 in position #3.


Freshman Jason Zafiros improved his singles winning streak to nine when he defeated Nils Schive 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-5.


No. 88 Jay Goldman fell to Dean Jackson 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in position #1.


Arango clinched the victory with a 6-4, 7-6 defeated of Charl Wolmarans of San Diego.


The Wildcats will be in action Saturday Feb. 28, when they travel to Fresno, Calif. to take on the Bulldogs of Fresno State at 10:00 a.m. Tucson Time.
