WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – In a polling of the Conference’s eight head women’s gymnastics coaches, Arizona was picked as No. 6 within the Conference to begin the season, the Pac-12 announced yesterday. The team (currently ranked No. 19 in the nation) received 19 points in the poll, directly behind Washington (with 24 points, and ranked No. 16 nationally) and ahead of Arizona State (11 points) and California (11 points).
UCLA (currently ranked first in the nation) was picked as top for the conference, with 48 points and six first place votes. In second was Utah, with 43 points, two first place votes and a national No. 5 ranking. Boasting a No. 7 ranking, Oregon State is predicted to take third in the conference after earning 38 points. Also in the top ten nationally is Stanford (No. 8) who slotted the fourth position in the conference with 30 points.
Arizona is set to start the season on Friday, January 6 in the Cancun Classic in Cancun, Mexico.
