No. 11 UCLA (13-6 overall, 6-3 Pac-10) defeated USC (9-9-1 overall, 3-6 Pac-10) in double overtime, 3-2, to share the Pac-10 Title with the Wildcats.
Senior Candice Wilks opened the scoring for the Wildcats at 10:50 by scoring from six yards out. The goal was unassisted. Freshman goalkeeper McCall Smith had two saves in the first half to give Arizona the 1-0 advantage at the end of the first half.

“We had some chances in the first half,” Head Coach Dan Tobias explained. “We did a better job after we had established the 2-0 lead. We took control and did a better job of taking care of the ball.”
Tobias also discussed the Pac-10 Championship,
“When I was talking to the team before the game I knew there was no way around it,” he said. “We knew it would mean we we’re Pac10 Champs if we won. The team has shown commitment and determination from day one. Not only that, they’ve shown commitment and determination to continuously get better. I am so proud of this group and it is a great step for the U of A soccer program. The credit goes to the 22 student-athletes. They’ve done all the work and I’m proud of this team and what they’ve accomplished.”
Thanks to the Wildcats 1-0 victory over the Bruins on Oct. 31, the Wildcats will claim the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Arizona will return home to learn its destination and opponent for the first round of the tournament on Monday, Nov. 8 at 2 P.M. on ESPNEWS.
