Whitney Dosty Named Finalist For USA Junior National Team

Tucson, Ariz. ?- Arizona volleyball outside hitter Whitney Dosty has been named a finalist for a spot on the 2007 USA Junior National Team.  Dosty, along with 23 other players, will participate in the second round of the team tryouts in Austin, Texas for one of 12 roster spots that will represent the USA at the 2007 Under 20 FIVB World Championships.


If selected, 6-foot-3 native of Tucson, Ariz., will train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., from July 5-16.  The World Championships will be held from July 19-27 in Suphanburi, Thailand.  She will compete against seven other outside hitters for a spot on the team. 


Dosty had one of the most impressive freshman campaigns in Arizona history this past season, appearing in all 109 games and 30 matches, logging 23 starts.  She ranked second on the team in kills with 369 and kills per game at 3.39, fourth on the team with 71 blocks, while leading the team in kills 13 times.  She was the only Wildcat to register 20 kills or more in a match with a career-high 29 versus Oregon on Nov. 9, and posted double figures in kills 22 times to earn Pac-10 All-Freshman Team honors.
