Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini:
"We have goals for each game, and we added a goal to be a second-half team. We were tested by Ohio State, they are good, a very solid team. We really controlled the tempo, we executed on offense, switched our defenses a lot and the players adjusted well. LaKeisha Taylor came up big, Liz (Pickney) had 24 (points) and 7 (rebounds) and Krista Warren was awesome. Candice Allen played her best game as a Wildcat."
On Candice Allen:
"Those were real big points, she didn't back down and she got to the line."
On Ohio State:
"I was very impressed, what I saw on tape of them was very scary. They stayed in it by their second chance shots. At a timeout I asked the team, 'How bad do you want to win?' We made them shoot and we got the rebounds."
"We played a very good team, but we had poise, defense, some tips and steals, layups and we just had fun. We played with confidence, and now with Notre Dame the defending national champions coming here we have two days to prepare for them."
"I want to thank the fans and I would like to ask them to come back on Saturday to support us, it is a big game."
Ohio State University Coach Beth Burns:
On team's performance:
"You have to give a lot of credit to Arizona for their play in the game. We have had two injuries at the point, and they took advantage of that. They changed their defense, every time down the court, which made us work harder."
"Rebounding was tough, inside outside, offensive and defensive. I was amazed we out rebounded them. We had troubles capitalizing on 2nd chance shots, we missed a lot of second chance shots, but Arizona did not. We didn't have much confidence, which also hurt us, where as Arizona played with a lot of confidence."
Team's experience with the loss:
"You have to let some go (the loss), you can not dwell on the loss too greatly. We have to learn strategies, where to go, where to cut, where to pass. With limited practice, we have to learn how to do these things better. Arizona didn't do anything we weren't prepared for. We practiced for it, but once again on limited practice, you can't expect them to get it perfectly. Its no fun getting waxed, we need to change the hurt into hunger to get better, and I'm confident that we'll do that."
