Walnut Creek, Calif. ?- Arizona senior Stephanie Butkus and juniors Amy Dyck, Katie Jackels, and Dominique Lamb each received Pac-10 Women’s Volleyball All-Academic honorable mention honors, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Butkus, from Bridgeview, Ill., earns honorable mention honors for the third-consecutive year. The 5-11 setter and engineering major is averaging a team-best 11.59 assists per game for Arizona, and recently became just the third player in school history to reach 4,000 career assists this past weekend against Washington State.
Dyck, from Sandpoint, Idaho, earns the first honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic accolades in her career. While majoring in communications, Dyck is averaging 1.25 kills, 1.25 digs, and is second on the team with 39 assists on the season.
Jackels, from Playa del Rey, Calif., receives the first Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention honors of her career. As a communications major, Jackels averages 2.34 digs per game for Arizona, which is the third-highest mark on the team.
Lamb, a Chandler, Ariz., native, earns honorable mention honors for the second-straight season. Lamb ranks second in the Pac-10 with 1.58 blocks per game, and leads the team with a .333 hitting percentage to go with a 2.55 kills per game average. Lamb, who is majoring in public health, currently ranks sixth all-time in school history with 366 career blocks.
Arizona will play its regular season finale at arch-rival Arizona State on Friday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena.
