Arizona's Katie Johnson Named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week

Tucson, Ariz. - Arizona freshman Katie Johnson was named Pacific-10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for Jan. 22-28, the league office announced Tuesday.

Johnson, a native of Moorhead, Minn., has helped the Wildcats reach a No. 7 national ranking. Against the No. 8 UCLA Bruins, Johnson finished in third place on beam with a 9.850 and fifth on vault with a season-high 9.850. Johnson placed second on floor with a career-best 9.975, which is the second-highest all-time individual floor mark in the program's history.

For the season, Johnson is ranked fourth in the nation on floor with a meet average of 9.919 and is the Pac-10 leader in the event. Johnson is also ranked No. 25 nationally on beam with a meet average of 9.812.

Arizona will next travel to Palo Alto, Calif., to battle the No. 12 Stanford Cardinal on Friday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. (PST).
