Elizabeth Hammond lost in the first round of consolation singles while both Jane Huh and Smyth won. Debora Castany, who had a bye in the first round, lost in the second round of consolation singles. Huh also lost but Smyth picked up a win.
Head coach Vicky Maes was proud of the effort put forth by the squad.
"This was a really great performance from the girls today," Maes said. "We set out to have some good individual results and I was pleased with how everyone played. Even though we lost doubles, we recovered with solid wins in the singles. I'm particularly pleased with Kim Stubbe and how she battled back twice from one set down to win against two seeded opponents and set up a quarter final round tomorrow."
