TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's golf team improved to tenth place on Thursday behind a 287 (+5) second-round at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Oahu. California remains at the top of the leader board at twenty under par.

Sophomore Chris Capo and freshman Tucker Wadkins led the Cats, both carding a 69 (-3) in the second round. Wadkins moved up to a tie for 42nd place, and Capo is now in a tie for 49th. Junior Juan Pablo Hernandezremains highest on the leader board for the Cats after carding a 73 (E), but fell to a tie for 27th place.

In the team race, California shot a 286 (-2) to preserve their twenty-stroke lead while SMU moved up from fourth place to second after shooting a 278 (-10) on the day. New Mexico dropped to third place after carding a 292 (+4) in the second round. Individually, SMU's Sam Fidone carded a 67 (-5) to improve to a tie for first place with Duke's Julian Suri, who carded a 70 (-2). After two rounds, both total at 135 (-9). At seven under, three are tied for third place, California's Max Homa and Joel Stalter, and Duke's Brinson Paolini.

Carding a 76 (+4), sophomore Erik Oja is currently tied for 53rd, followed by sophomore Trent Redfern, who is tied for 56th with a 78 (+6) for the day. Competing as an individual, freshman Brenden Redfernfinished the second round carding a 77 (+5) for a tie for 63rd place.

The final round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, held at the Turtle Bay Resort: Arnold Palmer Golf Course, will begin Friday, February 17 with an 8 a.m. (HST) shotgun start.
