Head Coach Lute Olson Postgame Quotes

"The team did a good job shooting the ball tonight. They did a good job communicating with each other. I thought we got better in the second half. In the beginning we were careless and tired. It was good for us to go out there and play someone else."

"The 25 turnovers occurred because we were out of control. We were using poor judgement. The freshman contributed 12 of those turnovers. We'll get that straightened out. We have work to do. Tomorrow we're going to work on every position. It has to be done this way. We strictly show guys by position what needs to be done."

"Andre (Iguodala) was trying to do a lot of fancy stuff with the ball. He needs to understand that the most important thing to do is to make the shot. I feel like he really worked hard on the defensive end. I think that Hassan (Adams) got a lot of opportunities to score tonight. Jason (Gardner) played steady basketball. Will (Bynum) did a super job. He had six assists and only one turnover. He did very well. We have been trying to work with Will on his defense, he's got a ways to go. Jason and Will played very well together tonight."

Arizona Player Postgame Quotes

Senior Jason Gardner:
"I think we played pretty well tonight. There are still a lot of things we need to work on. I think the biggest area where we need to work is on the defensive end."

On being named preseason All-American:
"It's a big honor to be named to a team like that, but it just means that I need to come out and work hard every day."

Sophomore Channing Frye:
"We had some unnecessary turnovers tonight. But it's good that we played a different team. It's a chance for us to discover the little knick-knacks that we don't see when we play against each other in practice. We need to be better on the boards, particularly myself. I let a lot (of rebounds) slip through my hands."

"It's too bad that they (Luke Walton and Salim Stoudamire) are injured, but we've got to move on."

"Hassan (Adams), Andre (Iguodala) and Chris (Rodgers) did really well, but I could tell they had a little bit of the jitters."

"Tonight's game was a good chance for us to learn to communicate on defense. We're in good conditioning, but we're used to playing each other. People aren't used to playing other guys. Once we get used to that, we'll be better off."

Freshman Hassan Adams:
"I was just ready to come out and play. I wasn't nervous. I'm not counting the points, I'm just out there working hard and trying to help the team get the win."

On the difference between high school and college:
"It's more competitive here. High school is more structured, you run your plays and that's it. Here, you just do what the coaches tell you and play."

"He (Coach Olson) puts it in your head to be hard to guard on offense and to be aggressive on defense."

Freshman Andre Iguodala:
"You want to stay out there, you don't want to come out so you just play hard."

On his shooting success:
"It's just confidence. I've always shot the ball really well. Some nights it goes in and some nights it doesn't. Lately, I've been shooting the ball well."

"I had five turnovers, I want to keep that number down and take care of the ball a little better."
