Arizona Gymnastics Ranked 17th in Pre-Season Coaches Poll

Tucson, Ariz. (Dec. 8) - The University of Arizona women's gymnastics team will open the 2004 season as the No. 17 team in the nation, according to the Pre-Season Coaches Poll.

With 12 returnees from last year's squad that finished the season No. 19 in the final national rankings and earned the program's 17th consecutive postseason appearance, Arizona earned its No. 17 ranking with a total of 290 points. The Wildcats will also add three freshman newcomers to the roster this season.

Of Arizona's 13 opponents in 2004, eight of those teams: (1) UCLA, (6) Stanford, (7) Florida, (9) Arizona St., (10) LSU, (11) Oregon St., (15) Washington and (21) California, are ranked in the Pre-Season Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats will open the 2004 schedule on Friday, Jan. 4, 2004, in East Lansing, Mich., when they take on Michigan St., LSU and Western Michigan.
