TOKYO, Japan ?- The Arizona women's golf team is in third at the 2004 Topy Cup Wednesday after its second day of competition in Tokyo, Japan.
The Wildcats shot a 21-over-par 597 to trail tournament leader Tohoku Fukushi by 10 strokes after Tohoku Fukushi shot a 11-over-par 587. Florida is in second after carding a 17-over-par 593. Senshu (612) is in fourth and Nagoya Commerce (615) occupies the fifth position.
Individually, senior Mar Garcia leads the Wildcats in fifth after shooting a 1-under-par 71 in round two. Adding to her 75 from yesterday’s round, she now stands at 2-over-par 146 for the entire tournament.
Junior Cassandra Kirkland is tied in seventh after shooting 4-over-par 148. Senior Miriam Kraschinski is tied for 12th at 6-over-par 150. Junior Lani Elston is in 19th place after shooting 4-over-par 76 in round two. While junior Whitney Welch shot a 17-over-par 80 for 28th.
The Wildcats will tee off in the final round on Thursday morning. The tournament is being held at Tanagura Densha Country Club.
