Tempe , Ariz. ?C The Arizona volleyball team suffered its second-straight sweep, falling to archrival Arizona State in three games on Friday night in Wells Fargo Arena.? Game scores were 31-29, 30-25 and 30-28, as the Wildcats drop to 12-7, 2-5 Pac-10 and the Sun Devils improve to 11-9, 3-4 Pac-10.

As a team, Arizona hit .280 (54-19-125) in the match, and finished with seven blocks and four service aces.? ASU hit .351 (54-14-114) on the night, posting nine blocks and five aces.

Individually for the Wildcats, senior Dominique Lamb posted a team-high 15 kills on .591 hitting (15-2-22), and junior Randy Goodenough posted 12 kills.? Junior Brook Buringrud tallied 10 kills, and junior Brittany Leonard finished with a team-best 12 digs.? Freshman Paige Weber tallied 44 assists.

ASU was led with 20 kills on .459 hitting (20-3-37) by freshman Sarah Reaves.

The two teams played close early in game one until the Wildcats broke a 9-9 tie with a 7-2 scoring run to take a 16-11 lead.? The Sun Devils responded with four-straight points to trail 16-15.? ASU and UA traded points from there, and were notched up at 29-29.? A block and a kill by Reaves put away Arizona and gave ASU a 31-29 win.? The Sun Devils outhit Arizona .279 (18-6-43) to .220 (20-9-50) in game one.

Arizona took control of the momentum early on in game two, earning an 11-6 advantage.? The Wildcats were up 14-10, but surrendered five-straight points to ASU and trailed 15-14.? The score was tied at 18-18 until the Sun Devils rallied off four-consecutive points for a 22-18 lead.? That proved to be enough distance for ASU, as the Sun Devils cruised the rest of the way for a 30-25 win on .400 hitting (19-3-40).

The Wildcats tried to dig themselves out of a two-game hole but got off to a bad start in game three, falling behind the Sun Devils 12-7.? Arizona trailed 22-15 until using an 8-2 scoring run to get back into the game at 24-23.? ASU responded with three-straight points to go up 27-23, and held off the Wildcats down the stretch for a 30-28 win to complete the sweep.

Arizona will return home to host No. 2 Stanford on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., and No. 10 California on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
