TUCSON--The Wildcats practiced Friday morning to complete much of their preseason football preparation, with Saturday's fall scrimmage in Arizona Stadium, and a workout Sunday to mark the final session before UA classes begin Monday.

Head coach Mike Stoops and staff commence their regular-season practice regimen, with weekday late-afternoon sessions, on Tuesday. UA opens the season in two weeks at home against Central Michigan. (Get your tickets now.)

UA hosts its annual Meet the Team activities on Saturday night in Arizona Stadium, with gates opening at 5 p.m. The team will take the field at 6 p.m. and host the last public scrimmage of its Fall Camp. Following the scrimmage, Arizona players and coaches will sign autographs on the field.

Stoops said earlier in the week that much of the pecking order for personnel would be determined after Saturday's action, including a choice for the No. 1 quarterback -- between sophomores Matt Scott and Nick Foles. Other depth chart decisions have been quite evident throughout camp, with 14 returning starters and some revealing play during spring practice.

Another thing that's been clear in camp is the respect accorded the opening opponent, the Chippewas of Central Michigan. Among standouts on the club are quarterback Dan LeFevour, defensive end Frank Zombo, linebacker Nick Bellore and receiver-punt returner Antonio Brown. The Chips are working to become the first Mid-American Conference team to earn four consecutive bowl berths, and bring a team with considerable weapons to Tucson.
