Final Stats

PALO ALTO, Calif.- The defending national champion Stanford volleyball team paid the Wildcats back for their upset 3-2 win in Tucson earlier this season with a 3-0 sweep in Maples Pavilion on Thursday. Game scores of the match were 34-32, 30-26, 30-19.

The loss was Arizona's second in its last three matches and dropped the Wildcats to 12-9 overall and 7-6 in the Pac-10. Stanford remained in the chase with USC for the conference title with the win as it improved to 22-3 overall and 12-2 in conference play.

Powered by 2001 NCAA Player of the Year Logan Tom, the Stanford offense proved to be too much for the Wildcats. The senior outside hitter led all players with 26 kills on a match-high .400 hitting.

Senior Lisa Rutledge led the way for Arizona with 16 kills and 11 digs for her team-leading eighth double-double of the season. Freshman Kim Glass added 12 kills, but also tallied nine attack errors in the loss. The Wildcats once again found trouble on the service line, coming up with 10 service errors on the night.

Arizona returns to action Friday night against California in Berkeley. The Golden Bears (15-8, 5-8 Pac-10) ended their 12-match losing streak to Arizona with a 3-0 sweep in Tucson earlier this season.
