TUCSON - After day two of The Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn, Arizona Wildcat women's golf has moved up to fifth place after 36 holes and two rounds. The three-day, three-round event is being held on the championship golf course at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort & Spa (par 72, 6,336 yards) in San Diego, Calif.
On day two, Arizona shot a 302 (+14) and moved up a spot to fifth place. The Cats have a two-round score of 605 (+29). After shooting a 292 (+4), No. 7 Purdue has moved up to first place in the team race. No. 1 USC has moved into second place with a carding of 295 (+7). No. 3 UCLA rounds out the top three teams after shooting a 304 (+16) on day two. No. 31 Laura Gonzalez of Purdue is the individual leader after shooting a 70 (-2) in round one and a 71 (-1) in round two.
"The weather for our first six holes was terrible," head coach Laura Ianello said. "We played in hail, pouring rain and fast winds. I'm proud of how tough the girls played. Margarita (Ramos) came back with a solid 74 and we hope to continue to move up the leader board tomorrow."
Junior Nikki Koller moved from 26th to 20th on Monday. She shot a 76 (+4) for a two-round score of 151 (+7). No. 19 junior Isabelle Boineau also jumped from 34th to 25th during the second round of play. She has carded a 152 (+8) after shooting a 76 (+4) on Monday. Sophomore Kyndall Ardoin fell from ninth to 36th on day two with her round of 81 (+9). She holds a two-day total of 154 (+10).
No. 75 senior Alejandra Llaneza moved from 60th to 46th after carding a 76 (+4) on day two. Her two rounds total 155 (+11). No. 34 junior Margarita Ramos was disqualified for an incorrect scorecard on Sunday but played a round today. She shot a 74 (+2). Freshman Haley Andreas, playing as an individual, moved up to 85th. She has rounds of 85 and 81 for a total of 166 (+22).
