TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 25 Arizona women's tennis team capped off the season on Saturday by defeating No. 9 ranked Arizona State 4-3. The victory was Arizona's first over the Sun Devils since 1998.

With the team score tied 3-3, Arizona freshman Maja Mlakar, ranked No. 18, pulled off one of the biggest come-from-behind victories in the short history of UA women's tennis. After dropping the first set in a tiebreaker to ASU's No. 15 ranked Adria Angel, Mlakar went down 0-3 in the second set before rallying to tie at 4 games apiece. The second set also went to a tiebreaker and Mlakar eventually won 7-6 (14-12). She would win the third set in a tiebreaker to win her match, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6, and secure the 4-3 victory for the Wildcats.

In doubles action, Arizona dropped all three doubles matches to the Sun Devils. In the No. 1 doubles match, ASU's No. 13 team of Adria Engel and Dora Krstulovic tripped up the No. 9 Wildcat duo of Mlakar and sophomore Debbie Larocque.

The Wildcats bounced back in the singles as they won four of six matches. In the No. 4 singles spot, UA sophomore Perrine Pernin dominated ASU's Cindy Sureephong, 6-2, 6-0. Arizona's Larocque, ranked No. 72, earned a victory over ASU's No. 24 ranked Dora Krstulovic, 6-1, 6-4. UA freshman Marie-Pier Pouliot topped ASU's Lauren Cololillo in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.

With the victory, Arizona improved to 11-12 on the season with a 4-4 mark in the Pac-10. The 4-4 mark in conference play is the first time since 1997 that the Wildcats have finished at or above .500.

The Wildcats continue action on April 25 at the Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, Calif.
