TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The No. 1 Arizona softball team (17-1) used three home runs and a no-hitter from Alicia Hollowell to win its second game of the Hillenbrand Invitational.

Alicia Hollowell (9-0) tossed her UA record 16th career no-hitter and her eighth shutout of the season, in the run-rule shortened victory.  Hollowell allowed only one Long Beach State batter to reach base, as she struck out 10 49ers in five innings in the circle.

Arizona jumped on 49er pitcher Jennifer Martinez (3-4) in the bottom of the first, for four runs, as the first six Wildcat batters reached base.  Freshman Jenae Leles capped off the inning with a grand slam, her second home run of the year.

UA put together a four-run, two-out rally in the second inning, on three hits and two walks.  Autumn Champion drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on a Kristie Fox RBI single, giving UA a, 5-0, lead.  The Wildcats then loaded the bases, bringing up freshman Laine Roth.  With a full count, Roth hammered Martinez’s offering to right-center field for a three-run triple.

In the bottom of the third, the Wildcat freshmen continued to pound the ball, as UA first-year first baseman Sam Banister smashed her team-leading fourth home run of the year to the opposite field.

Leading off the fourth inning, Leles, who had already hit a grand slam on the day, hit her second round-tripper of the day and third of the season.

Game Notes

-         Autumn Champion’s second inning stolen base was the 58th of her career, putting her in a seventh place tie with Toni Mascarenas on UA’s all-time stolen base list

-         Autumn Champion extended her team-leading hitting streak to seven games

-         Laine Roth’s second inning triple was UA’s fifth of the year.  The five triples match last year’s team total

-         Arizona’s 2-through-5 hitters scored nine of the team’s 10 runs
