Last Week Recap

Over the weekend the Cats were swept by the Bay Area schools, Stanford and California.? On Friday the Cats were defeated by the No. 4 Stanford Cardinal, 3-1.

Stanford scored its first goal at the 65 minute mark on a controversial goal.? Kelley Oˇ?Hara took a free kick that Arizona goalkeeper Halley Brown appeared to have saved, but the side judge overruled the head official giving Oˇ?Hara her fifth goal of the year.

Oˇ?Hara scored again eight minutes later when Brown misplayed a pass from her defense.

Arizona responded with a goal of its own two minutes later.? Jacqueline Zinke hit Jacqueline Broussard on the sideline and Broussard put a shot pass the Stanford the goalkeeper for her first goal of the season.

Stanford added a third goal when Ali Riley beat Brown one-on-one.? The goal was Rileyˇ?s second of the season.

On Sunday, the Golden Bears of California defeated the Wildcats, 2-0.? For the second straight game Arizona was tied, 0-0, going to the half, but second half struggles led to a defeat.? Arizona out-shot Cal eight to two in the first half, but had nothing to show for it.

Cal scored its first goal when Arizona failed to clear the ball out of its zone.? Caitlin Hannegan took the ball and went one-on-one with Cats goalkeeper Halley Brown, scoring her third goal of the season, at the 61:40 mark.

The Bears scored again 10 minutes later; Nikki Schrey took a shot from outside of the box that was just out of the reach of Brown.

The second half was a different story for Arizona offensively; the Cats only had three shots in the half and none on goal.
