SOMIS, Calif. - The Arizona women's golf team finished in third, Wednesday after its final round of competition at the 2004 Pac-10 Championship in Somis, Calif.
The Wildcats shot a 59-over-par 923 to trail Pac-10 tournament champion, UCLA by 21 strokes after the Bruins shot a 38-over-par 902. California finished in second after shooting a 56-over-par 920. Southern California (928) and Arizona State (928) tied for fourth place.
Individually, sophomore Erica Blasberg finished third after shooting a final round 75 (+3) placing her at 5-over-par 221 for the tournament. The sophomore from Corona, Calif. finished third in last year's Pac-10 Championship.
Sophomore Lani Elston had her best career finish as a Wildcat, by finishing tied for fifth place with Arizona State's Tiffany Tavee at 225 (+9).
Sophomore Cassandra Kirkland tied for 14th at 17-over-par 233. Junior Miriam Kraschinski tied for 41st place after shooting 28-over-par 244. While sophomore Whitney Welch shot a 56-over-par 272 for 57th place.
Also competing for Arizona, as an individual junior Mar Garcia tied for 32nd after carding a 22-over-par 238.
The Wildcats will begin to prepare for the NCAA Regional, which will be held May 6-8, 2004, location to be announced.
